Saying Goodbye to Say Hello

So last week was a very hard but exciting week for me. On Wednesday the 20th I had Senior Send Off for my sorority Alpha Delta Pi. This night was full of funny stories,sad stories, laughing and crying. It was very hard to say goodbye to the women I have gotten to know over the past 4 years. I know I will stay in touch with them, and see a few of them often, but we are spreading out across differnt states: for example, one is going off to grad school in Washington State next fall and another is going to South Korea for the summer!! I am looking forward to the times that I will travel back to school for student teaching meetings to see everyone for the weekend. :)

2011 Senior Send Off

The next day, Thursday the 21st, I had an interview for student teaching. On my way home, about 40 minutes way, I had to stop for gas. I pulled up to the gas station and realized.....I didn't have my debt card. I had no money. $0. And I started to freak out. I had about 2 hours until my interview and no way to get home. So I asked the cashier where the nearest US Bank was so I could withdraw money. Once that was done, about 15 minutes later, I headed on to KC. I got home with just enough time to quickly eat, change clothes, get directions and go. [I cant forget to mention the fact that I was mumbling and complaining to myself while pumping gas and realized that there was another girl on the other side of the pump who was listening and laughing at my crazy behavior. Awesome]

I got to where I needed to be about 15 minutes early...but I was lost. I stopped and asked a random boy where the district offices were and he pointed me in the right direction....which turned out to be the wrong direction. Finally, I went into a building and asked where the district office was located. I was starting to freak out, again, because it was about 12:55 when I got in my car. I drove around for another minute or two, STILL lost until I finally called the offices and asked for directions. At 12:59 I pulled up, jumped out of my car and quickly walked inside. I said 'hi' to the secretary, told her my name, and that was when my interviewer walked into the room just seconds after I had gotten there.

So, needless to say, this was not the way I wanted to start an interview that could very well define my future in this district! But after everything that had happened that morning I had a great interview and left there feeling great. Now I just have to wait until at least May 5, yes i know the exact date and time, before I know if I got a student teaching placement in the district or not. (fingers crossed!)

I am hoping that my gas troubles and inability to follow directions will not be a sneak peak into how my teaching career will be. (But there is always a career as a professional packer to fall back onto!!) Even though I am sad to be saying goodbye to college and all of my AmAzInG ADPi sisters I have a feeling that this next chapter in my life will be crazy, entertaining, and full of surprises.



P.S. I am done packing! Everything is moved home and waiting to be put away. Boo.

Packing....packing....and more packing.

If my teaching career turns out to be a failure I know that I can fall back onto my Plan B: a professional packer. For the past 4 years I have packed to move up to college and then back home about 8 times. Sometimes I have had 2 cars to load up my cargo and other times I have only had mine. This has given me some experience in the moving/packing industry!

I remember moving home freshman year and helping pack up other cars. I had to help a friend pack up all of her belongings into her one regular sized car. (Remember that Suzanne??) She lived about 5 hours away so there was no chance of her making 2 trips. We spent a while outside trying to organize everything so it would fit. "Here is a spot! What can we shove in there?" We did get everything to fit but we were pretty sure she could only see out the front of the car and it was probably illegal!

Once again I find myself packing but this will be the last time for a while. I have so much stuff....I don't know where to begin sometimes!

Want to know the worst part? This isn't even clothes or items I use daily. This is all stuff that could be stored! And this is about an 1/4th of what I have to bring home. Sorry Dad!

But one good thing that has come out of this experience is that I know I can live in a tight space even with all the junk I have acquired over the years! Good thing I chose a job field that will allow me to live in a cheap, tiny apartment. :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope your day was filled with fun, family, eggs, and large bunnies. I am looking forward to this Easter because this year there aren't any costumes or ropes involved!

For the past two years my mother has come up with wild and weird ideas to get all the "kids" involved in the egg hunt. And by 'the kids', I mean my brother and sister along with our 3 friends who are between the ages of 15 & 22. So I would say we are well beyond the Easter Egg Hunt years. My mom has been creative in her ideas and here is what happened the past two years:

First, we had the 4 legged race.....

This lasted for about a minute until the ropes came lose. It was difficult at first but a fun idea.

Next came the costumes. Oh yes, costumes. [Please let me remind you that this is around 4 in the afternoon and it is light out.]

We each had to pick a number and then pick the bag that had the same number. There was a clown, a vampire, Santa, a swimmer, cowboy, and other random items. As you can see it was an exciting time for all involved!

This year was not quite as extravagant but still fun. We hid plastic eggs along with a few real eggs around the yard. Some eggs had candy inside while others had stickers with numbers on the back. The real eggs were worth the most points and were hidden pretty well....I say this since I hid them. :) In the end, whoever had the most points (gained from the stickers) will win the egg hunt!

In the beginning....

"Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have."

I do not know who said this but I feel this quote describes how I am feeling right now as I am going to start something new: this blog! Already I can tell that this will be very hard!

Reasons Why I Will Find Blogging Hard:

1. It took me forever to think of a title and I needed help. (still second guessing myself!)

2. Why are there so many choices on how to decorate, create, size, color, pick, choose, label, etc. my blog! Its too confusing.

3. I feel kind of weird just writing to no one in particular.

4. I have never stuck with anything, concerning writing, in my life! I have started many diaries when I was younger and probably only wrote in the first 3 pages of each new book....ooops.

Reasons Why I Want to Start Blogging:
1. Everyone is doing it. Well, kinda.
2. I want to be creative and witty. Or appear to be creative and witty.
3. I am about to start a new chapter in my life!
4. This seems like fun.

#3 on the list "Reasons Why I Want to Start Blogging" is probably the most important out of them all.  In one week from today, I will be completely moved out of college for good and next fall I will be student teaching (hopefully I will find out where I am student teaching within the next two weeks!!) This means that I will be separated from the friends I've made over the past 4 years, meet new people, and get thrown into the teaching world! So I hope that blogging will keep me connected to those friends I wont see every day anymore and try something new. I am not quite sure what I will talk about but I can usually find something. :)

Here is a preview of what my future blogs will probably consist of:

• Fun stories from teaching and the kids that will make me go crazy but laugh!
• Random facts about everything :)
• Pictures. Because I love pictures!!
• And whatever you ask me to write about....which is assuming anyone will read my blog
